Description

The Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for all activities and operations in the accounts payable function. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers. Is responsible for all vendor payments while maintaining accurate financial records and controls.

 Essential Job Functions The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  1. Responsible for full cycle accounts payable processes.

  1. Analyzes invoices and expense reports for accuracy, proper recording and eligibility for payment.

  1. Interact with various departments to address and resolve accounts payable issues.

  1. Continuous review and analysis on current systems and procedures to ensure best practices.

  1. Prepare a variety of reports to maintain accurate financial records and controls.

  1. Oversee and reconcile accounts to the general ledger and conduct other account reconciliations as required.

  1. Maintain payable deadlines in a busy environment.

  1. Maintain accurate supplier and customer files and records.

  1. Collect data, analyze and prepare monthly metrics.

  1. Review work at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.

  1. Counsel Team Members in work-related activities, personal growth, and career development.

  1. Supervise the Accounts Payable staff by conducting performance reviews and recommending promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures.

  1. Assess training needs of staff and arrange for or provide appropriate instruction.

  1. Assist management in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, or making hiring decisions or recommendations.

Nature of Supervision:

  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision and a high degree of autonomy

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position manages assigned Team Members in the department and is responsible for the performance of the team.

Education/Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Five years relevant accounts payable supervisory experience, retail industry experience preferred
  • Strong Written and Verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Oracle Retail and Finance is preferred
  • Must have strong analytical, organizing and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of accounting principles and experience with general ledger account reconciliation
